Cross-border refuelling

  • App in demand outside Germany too
  • Check availability of hydrogen refuelling stations in Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Norway, Austria, Sweden and Switzerland with H2.LIVE
  • Other countries can join

Berlin, 25 September 2017
From Oslo to South Tyrol, and from Eindhoven to Vienna – if you aim to cover long distances with an electric car, hydrogen is an ideal solution. To help you plan your trips, you can check where to find hydrogen refuelling stations abroad using the H2.LIVE app. Check out addresses, opening hours and availability using the app or online at www.h2.live.

“Hydrogen mobility offers everything we love about driving – especially the range! With our app hydrogen pioneers can now venture without worries beyond the German border,” says Nikolas Iwan, Managing Director of H2 MOBILITY Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG.
H2 MOBILITY is responsible for developing Germany’s nationwide hydrogen infrastructure, and is now happy to offer you the H2.LIVE app. The company is responsible for the operative side of the hydrogen revolution, including network planning, licensing, procurement, and establishing and operating 700-bar hydrogen refuelling stations that are open to the general public.

Although good progress is being made on developing the infrastructure, drivers of hydrogen fuel cell cars still need to plan ahead. Germany currently has 34 refuelling stations open to the general public. Another 42 are at the planning stage and should be opened within the next few months. The first phase provides for 100 hydrogen refueling stations to be built in Germany. If the number of fuel cell vehicles registered increases, another 300 will follow by about 2023. The app allows you to track progress on extending coverage.
You can already find out today where you can refuel with hydrogen in other countries, using H2.LIVE. Operators of hydrogen refuelling stations in Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Norway, Austria, Sweden and Switzerland are all on board.

Clean mobility
They handle like conventional cars, offer the same speed and the same range – with practically no noise or emissions. Hydrogen vehicles have a range of around 700 km, and can be refuelled in only 3 minutes just like conventional vehicles. Most hydrogen refuelling stations are integrated into existing service stations. The construction needs little space and uses mainly standardised components.

H2 MOBILITY
H2 MOBILITY Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG is responsible for developing the hydrogen infrastructure across Germany. The first 100 refuelling stations are to be established in seven of Germany’s largest cities and urban areas (Hamburg, Berlin, Rhine-Ruhr region, Nurnberg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich), and along trunk roads and motorways – independent of the number of fuel cell vehicles on the roads. Most of them will be integrated into existing service stations operated by the H2 MOBILITY partners OMV, Shell and TOTAL. By 2023, another 300 hydrogen refuelling stations are planned, depending on the number of fuel cell vehicles registered. H2 MOBILITY’s industrial partners are Air
Liquide, Daimler, Linde, OMV, Shell and TOTAL. BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota and Volkswagen advise H2 MOBILITY, in their capacity as associated partners. NOW GmbH National Organisation Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology provides advice on political matters.

H2 MOBILITY receives funding from the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure within the framework of the National Innovation Programme Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP) and from the European Commission under the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen 2 Joint Undertaking (FCH 2 JU), the Hydrogen Mobility Europe Project (H2ME) and through the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T CEF), which is part of the Connecting Hydrogen Refuelling Stations Project (COHRS).
